HANNIS BROWN GUITAR

ABOUT

HANNIS BROWN has performed under the direction of notable musicians including former Tonight Show bassist Joel DiBartolo, jazz composers Maria Schneider and Ed Neumeister, Quincy Troupe, poet, and Miles Davis biographer. He has released two LPs of his own strange rock (Oh Ah Ee) and electroacoustic chamber music (Severe Insomnia) with a third full-length release slated fall 2014. The ETHEL string quartet performed his Oh Ah Ee live on WNYC Radio's Soundcheck and, in 2014 they commissioned a new work—Exercises in Breathing—as part of the ensemble's "Homebaked" series for emerging composers.

In addition to regular performances with Hotel Elefant, Brown has appeared with Nouveau Classical Project, at the POP Montreal Festival, and with numerous chamber, noise, and improvisation groups. He also programs Q2 Music—New York Public Radio’s online station for music by living composers. www.hannisbrown.com
